‘I think I’ve been shot’: Innocent driver wounded in Houston road rage incident, according to police

A couple leaving a Whole Foods Market near the Montrose area Tuesday night was apparently caught in the middle of a road rage shooting, with an innocent driver being shot.

Around 9:15 p.m., a husband and wife just pulled out of the grocery in the 600 block of Waugh at D’Amico, when they reportedly saw two cars driving erratically, according to police.

“Two vehicles were in some kind of road rage incident,” said Houston Police Lt. Larry Crowson. “The occupant of one the vehicles got out, shot at the other vehicle.

The couple was waiting at a stop light, and reported that they heard several pops that sounded like gunfire. Then the husband told the wife, “I think I’ve been shot.”

A bullet hole could be seen through the front windshield of their white Prius.

The man was reportedly shot in the shoulder, and was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

HPD detectives are checking several area cameras for possible footage of the vehicles involved. They may have been chasing each other. One car was identified as a white Infiniti.

The victim is expected to survive.

“Pretty scary, just minding your own business,” said Lt. Crowson.
