IANT and Muslim American Chamber of Commerce hosted a candidate forum for Richardson City Council

Dallas: Islamic Association of North Texas (IANT)and Muslim American Chamber of Commerce hosted a candidate forum for Richardson City Council. Many Muslim community members participated in the event. Candidate forum was conducted by Muslim American Chamber’s President Ghulam Jangda. The event was participated by several community leaders and religious leadership including ISNA President Azhar Aziz, Dallas County Judges Gena Slaughter, Judge Dominique Collins, Terry Hodge, Richardson Mayor Paul voelker , Ghulam Jangda, and many Richardson Council members were among participants. Community services award was also distributed to Scott Dunn, Mable Simpson, Martha Gomez Frey, and Ghulam Jangda. Judge Gena Slaughter and Judge Dominique Collins gave out awards.

Speakers at the event reassured Muslim community for their help and answered questions from the community members,during questions answer session Mayor Richardson Paul Voelker, and other candidate’s for city Council , Jason Clarke, Bob DuBey, Mark Soloman, Dan Barrios, Franklin Byrd, Janet DePuy, Raymond DeGuzman, Kyle Kepner, johnny Lanzilli, Ken Hutchenrider, Mauri Long, Steve Mitchell, stressed on the need of collaboration among residents and city council members and presented themselves in helping people coming together. Muslim Democratic Caucus founder and past President Syed Fayyaz Hassan expressing his joy on large participation of community in this event said that “Today now we have almost five hundred people in the audience at this candidate forum. This is a result of dedicated leadership of Ghulam Jangda and to IANT for raising political awareness”.

IANT President Shams ul Arifeen and Muslim Chambers President Ghulam Jangda thanked participants and audience for the successful program. Event had ISNA President Azhar Aziz, Muslim Democratic Caucus leaders Syed Fayyaz Hassan, and Amir Makhani along with community leaders Mohsin Mandavia, Mohammad Suleman, Amir Omar, Anees Gaziani, Anwar Azam, Iqbal Hasan, Riaz Memon, Aziz Jangda, and others were also in presence. Participants said that these kinds of events provide opportunities to express their opinions and concerns with civic leadership. This was largely attended event
