Increasing wind and rain ahead of Delta, TS Warning issued for upper Texas coast

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Major Hurricane Delta will brush Southeast Texas on Friday, bringing tropical-storm-force winds and rain from Houston down to the coast.

The latest wind speed at the center of Delta is 120mph, making this a Cat 3 storm as it moves north. The storm is expected to turn northeast later today before making landfall in Southwest Louisiana.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued from Sargent in Matagorda County to High Island in Galveston County. This means that winds of 39-73 mph are possible.

A Hurricane Warning has been issued from High Island eastward to Grand Isle, Louisiana.

By the weekend we should be back in the sunshine with warm, sticky air pushing highs back toward 90. Our next fall front should arrive sometime after the weekend, but we’re still sorting out the details on the timing of that front.
