Inmate who escaped Dallas County Jail may have already fled Dallas, authorities say

The Dallas County sheriff’s department is searching for an inmate who escaped early Sunday morning, officials said.

Daniel Brown, 28, was discovered missing from the Suzanne Kays Detention Facility at the Dallas County Jail when he didn’t appear for an inmate count early Sunday.

He had been assigned to work in the kitchen area, officials said. Detectives are still reviewing security footage to determine exactly how and when Brown left the facility, but they believe he could have escaped through a dock area.

Authorities say Brown could be traveling with 28-year-old Dieasha Owens. The couple is believed to be in a 2018 black Acura TLX with Texas license plate number KRM-0827.

Detectives believe Brown may have already left Dallas.

Brown was arrested by Dallas police March 19 on five theft charges, officials said. He was being held in lieu of $250,000 bail —$50,000 for each charge.

Anyone with information on his location is asked to contact the sheriff’s department at 214-749-8641.
