Edwin Figueroa, 23, is accused of shooting 22-year-old Rafael Nunez on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, after finding out Nunez was allegedly having an affair with his wife.
But that beating wasn’t enough revenge for Figueroa, he allegedly told police officers. Prosecutors said he confessed to drinking beer, snorting cocaine and purchasing a pistol before driving to Nunez’s apartment in the 10400 block of South Drive in southwest Houston.

He broke down Nunez’s door around 10:20 p.m. as the victim was taking a shower, prosecutors said. He opened fire, striking Nunez several times before fleeing the scene, police said.
Paramedics rushed to the apartment to try and save Nunez. He was apparently conscious and, while being wheeled into an ambulance, told the medics that his “boss” shot him, police said.
He later died in surgery at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.
Officers found Figueroa nearby and detained him. Houston Police Department homicide detectives interviewed Figueroa, who then allegedly made the confession, police said.
He told the detectives Nunez was his friend of four years, they said. Figueroa was charged with first-degree felony murder and is being held in the Harris County Jail with a $100,000 bail amount, records show.
