Man Arrested, Charged With Capital Murder, Sexual Assault, Indecent Exposure

A 31-year-old man is behind bars in Fort Worth, accused of capital murder, sexual assault and indecent exposure.

Lee Dexter Joiner was arrested Tuesday, Fort Worth police said, on two counts of sexual assault and an outstanding warrant for indecent exposure out of Dallas County.

Joiner, police said, is suspected of attacking at least two women in the last two weeks. The first, a 38-year-old woman, was attacked at about 5 a.m. Aug. 29 on the 1900 block of Ederville Road while the second, a 40-year-old woman, was attacked at about 4:30 a.m. Sept. 3 on the 4500 block of Lancaster Road.

Since his arrest, investigators also named him as the suspect in the Sept. 7 murder of Ruby Antionette Maeda, a 53-year-old Hispanic woman whose body was found dumped along the 1500 block of Ederville Road

Thursday night, police said they are looking into whether Joiner committed a third sexual assault on August 22.

“I was terrified, there’s like eight police cars across the street and there’s three literally outside my bedroom window,” said Jordan Duty, who lives across the street from where Maeda’s body was found.

Duty lives with her mother Debra who upgraded the families surveillance video weeks before the string of sexuals assaults and murder began. Their video has since been seized by police and captures a car pulling up in a parking lot the night of the murder and a truck arriving the morning of the Aug. 29 sexual assault.

“We thought when we moved here, we were very excited living across from the park. I don’t feel the same way anymore,” Debra Duty said.

Joiner is currently being held in the Tarrant County Jail without bond. It’s not clear if he’s obtained an attorney.

Public records show Joiner has a Plano address but police say they believe he was staying in the area where the alleged crimes occurred
