Man shoots, kills self at barbecue after believing gun was unloaded, police said

A 22-year-old man fatally shot himself by accident at a barbecue in northwest Houston on Saturday evening, police said.

Four men were hanging out upstairs in the home on Walnut Brook Court when one produced a handgun. The victim did not realize it was loaded and fired a round, which struck him in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said
