NBC 5 Forecast: Wonderfully warm on Sunday, but cold air returns Monday

From NBC 5 meteorologist Brian James – We had terrific weather on Saturday … and we’ve got another wonderful day ahead on Sunday too! First, tonight will be mainly clear for most of the night. By sunrise, some areas of fog will begin developing. The I-35 corridor and points to the east are the most likely areas to see low clouds and fog develop.

The fog will quickly mix out Sunday morning and we’ll be able to enjoy the another warm day on Sunday! I strongly encourage you to enjoy the warmth though. The next cold front arrives late Sunday with a decent push of colder air coming in behind it. While there could be a few showers, the best chance to see rain will east and northeast of DFW. Elsewhere, patchy drizzle will be possible on Monday. Temperatures will stay in the 40s. Wind chill values will be in the 30s thanks to a stiff NW wind blowing between 15 and 20 mph. The sky will clear out Monday night which will set the stage for a freeze Tuesday morning. A freeze is also likely Wednesday morning.

The rest of the week looks fairly quiet with a decent amount of sun. Temperatures will climb into the 60s late in the week and over next weekend. If you have travel plans the weekend before Christmas, the weather is looking good!
