Police: 14 arrested on drunken driving charges in north Houston over Fourth of July weekend

 

A total of 14 suspected drunk drivers were arrested in northwest Houston over Fourth of July weekend, according to a release from Harris County Constable Precinct 4.

Deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Driving While Intoxicated Task Force were actively searching for suspected drunk drivers throughout Precinct 4, over the course of the weekend, according to the release

The 14 people arrested were each stopped for traffic violations and later displayed “several signs of intoxication,” during administered field sobriety tests, the release stated.

One man was arrested for allegedly driving drunk with a three-year-old in the vehicle. Miguel Guerrero was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a child under 15-years-old, a felony charge, according to the release.

Drivers that are charged with DWI with a child passenger can face fines up to $10,000, up to two years in prison and loss of their drivers license for 180 days, according to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT.)

Two other suspected drunk drivers, Daniel Musgrove and Salmeron Fermin, had two previous DWI charges, according to the release.  A person’s third DWI offense results in a felony charge, according to TxDOT.

Drivers charged with a third DWI charge face up to $10,000 in fines, between two to 10 years in prison and can have their license suspended. Drivers can also face an annual fee up to $2,000 for three years to retain their license, according to TxDOT
