Police: Assisted living facility workers ran ‘fighting ring’ involving residents with dementia

An investigation by police in North Carolina has led to charges against three women accused of assaulting people with disabilities and encouraging residents at an assisted living facility to fight.

The Winston-Salem Journal reported police received reports in June of elder abuse at Danby House in Winston-Salem.

Marilyn McKey, Tonacia Tyson and Taneshia Jordan are facing assault charges, accused of running a “fighting ring.” All of them worked at the Danby House on Burke Mill Road.

Investigators gоt a tip in June that workers allowed and encouraged residents to fight with one another. No injuries were reported or discovered as a result of these incidents, police said.

Winston-Salem Police investigators and the N.C. Department of Health and Human Resources looked into the reports and also determined at least one employee assaulted one of the residents by shoving them
