Police: Wanted suspect robbed 3 businesses at gunpoint, threatened to shoot customers

Crime Stoppers and the Houston Police Department are asking for the public’s help identifying an armed serial robbery suspect who is accused of targeting three north Houston businesses over the span of a few days.

The first two robberies occurred May 25 at Sam Washateria located at 800 Crosstimbers and Amaris Bakery located at 614 E. Crosstimbers. The suspect allegedly first entered the washateria around 12:50 p.m. armed with a semi-automatic handgun. The suspect allegedly grabbed a customer by his or her clothing, dragged them to the cash register and pointed a gun at an employee before demanding money. He left the scene in a black 2008-2001 Chevrolet Avalanche

Later that same day, the suspect traveled a few blocks down from the washateria and robbed Amaris Bakery. The suspect pretended to be making a purchase before he allegedly took out a pistol and pointed it at store employees. Using the same tactic as in the first robbery, the suspect grabbed the clothing of an employee and pushed them to the back of the business to empty the store register. He left the scene in the same Chevrolet Avalanche.

The third robbery took place around 7 p.m. June 1 at the Metro PCS located at 5101 Tidwell. The suspect can be seen on store surveillance video brandishing a handgun and demanding everyone get on the ground and keep their heads down. According to police, he threatened to shoot one of the females in the store before fleeing with the money in a dark colored Mercedes Benz sedan.

The suspect is described as a black man in his early 20′ to late 30’s, around 5’9 to 6 feet tall, 180 to 200 pounds and has a beard and mustache.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest. Information may be reported by calling 713-222-TIPS (8477) or submitted online at www.crime-stoppers.org.
