SANA demands justice for the cold-blooded murder of Irshad Ranjhani

By: Amir Makhani

Austin, TX, 10 February 2019 – The Executive Council (EC) of the largest diaspora organization of Sindhis in the world, Sindhi Association of North America (SANA), in a meeting today, demanded speedy justice for the gruesome and cold-blooded murder of Irshad Ranjhani in Shah Lateef Police Station area of Malir, Karachi.

According to the news reports and the video clips making rounds on social media, young Irshad Ranjhani got killed when murderer Rahim Shah fired multiple shots at him at point blank in the broad day light on the streets of Malir. Rahim Shah’s videos shooting at Irshad Ranjhani and challenging people, who try to help the dying Irshad Ranjhani, are available on the social media. Young Irshad breathed his last on the street due to the wounds caused by gun shots fired at him by Rahim Shah.

Although the Chief Minister of Sindh had ordered an enquiry into the incident but since the culprit was still at large, the EC saw the order to be a mere lip service. In the case where murderer is seen and recorded openly shooting at the victim and claiming to have killed him, should not the first action would have been to apprehend the murderer and later conduct the enquiry? SANA EC was at a loss as to why the due course of law was not being followed in this case? Why was the murderer still at large? Did the murderer enjoy patronage of high and mighty? The EC questioned.

SANA EC demanded that the first action for the law enforcement agencies in Sindh should be to arrest the murderer and start the due course of law. The EC also felt that if the brutal murderer was allowed to roam the streets of Karachi, the people of Sindh would see it as a failure of governance and a weakening writ of law in the province, and lose the already diminishing faith in the justice system.
