Santa Fe teen arrested after allegedly shooting 17-year-old girl in chest with rifle

A 19-year-old man from Santa Fe is facing a felony charge after allegedly shooting a teenage girl in the chest with a .22 caliber rifle.

Jeremiah Park was arrested Sunday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony, according to a release from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office

At the time of the shooting, Park and a group of teenagers were allegedly drinking alcohol and playing with the rifle Sunday in the 17000 block of Willow Pound Drive in Algoa, Texas, the release stated. Park was holding the firearm when it discharged and struck a 17-year-old girl in the chest, according to the release.

Thompson was transported to Mainland Medical Center in Texas City with non life-threatening wounds, according to the release.

Park’s bond is set at $20,000.
