Several organizations held a joint protest rally at Kennedy Memorial in Dallas

Dallas:Several North Texas organizations including ICNA, Friends of Kashmir and Indian Muslim Committee held a joint protest rally at Kennedy Memorial in Dallas against annexation of Kashmir by India and Human Rights abuses of Kashmiri people. Hundreds of Dallas residents including men women and children stood shoulder to shoulder with Kashmiri community to register their protest inhumane treatment of people in Indian occupied and now annexed state of Kashmir. Participants holding placards and chanting slogans for freedom for Kashmiri people demanded Kashmir solution according to UN resolutions which mandates a plebiscite in Kashmir as a solution of the conflict.

Several speakers spoke against illegal and unilateral Indian move of annexation of Kashmir by India through abolition of article 370 of Indian constitution. Event speakers termed this Indian move as an insult to UN resolutions and demanded UN Security Council to enforce its resolution and hold immediate plebiscite in Kashmir. Speakers demanded world community to protect people of Kashmir, who are up against worst kind of state oppression. Kashmir Valley is under curfew for last nine days and the whole Kashmir is made a prison for around thirteen million people of Kashmir. Kashmiri people have been denied their right of self determination for which speakers demanded the world community to exert its pressure on Indian government to respect international laws and human rights conventions.

The event was addressed by Kashmiri leader Raja Muzaffar, Texas Democratic Party State Executive Committee member and Muslim Democratic Caucus Director Syed Fayyaz Hassan, friends of Kashmir Chair. Ghazala Habib, Pakistan Society of North Texas President Abid Malik and Dr. Riaz Haider, Aseel Khan, Imtiaz Rahi, Attorney Sehla Asahi, and many others in North Texas leadership

The event was attended by a large crowd in scorching hot weather of Dallas and in short notice gathering a day before Eid ul Azha.
