Suspect in West University Place Chase Bank apprehended, confesses

The suspect from a robbery at the Chase Bank in the 4000 block of BellaireBoulevard in West University Place was taken into custody on Friday, July 12, and later confessed.

The robbery occurred around 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 11. Reportedly, the suspect entered the bank, where he handed the teller a note that demanded money and then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

An investigation with the West University Place Police Department, the Houston Police Department and the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force identified the suspect as Andre Brown, 49. Brown was already suspected in four other robberies that HPD had investigated.

HPD and the task force apprehended Brown on July 12, and he confessed to the robbery at the West University Chase Bank. The district attorney’s office heard the facts of the case and at first accepted the charge but subsequently decided not to file additional charges because Brown is already facing two other robbery charges.
