Taco truck owner’s alleged killer latest of 35 charged with murder in Houston

Houston police homicide detectives have arrested or charged 35 people on murder or capital murder charges so far in 2019, records show.

Their most recent arrest was of Anthony Conway, 21, who is accused of gunning down 49-year-old taco truck owner Enrique Ayala Ramirez on June 6 in an apparent robbery. He’s charged with capital murder in Ramirez’s untimely death

Conway is one of nearly three dozen people who have been charged with murder or capital murder so far in 2019. Those 35 arrests account for 25 homicides in the city, with some cases carrying multiple suspected killers.

So far, there have been 113 murders in Houston to date in 2019. There were 121 murders by this time in 2018 and 118 by this time in 2017, according to the Houston Police Department.
