Teen Killed, 4 Others Injured in Rollover Crash

A 15-year-old girl is dead and three other teenagers are hospitalized following a crash in Dallas Wednesday morning.

Dallas Police say an SUV was traveling northbound on Westmoreland near Illinois Avenue at about 8:45am when it was clipped by a car crossing Westmoreland. Investigators say the collision caused the SUV to lose control, spinning off the road and ultimately hitting a pole.

The Dallas Independent School District says all four of the passengers and driver of the SUV were students at Kimball High School in Dallas.

Dallas police say a 15-year-old girl riding in the backseat was ejected and died at the scene. A 16-year-old girl riding in the front seat suffered a broken ankle, a 15-year-old boy in the backseat suffered head injuries and a girl riding in the rear middle seat suffered a broken leg, according to Dallas Police. The 16-year-old driver of the SUV was unhurt.

The 19-year-old driver of the car stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Dallas police say they believe speed was a factor, but it remains unclear what led up to the accident.

The cause of the crash is under investigation
