WASHINGTON — A campaign fundraiser for Rep. Jodey Arrington, R-Lubbock, at Dallas’ iconic Italian restaurant Campisi’s is moving venues following illegal sports betting allegations against the restaurant’s owner, David Campisi, according to a spokesperson for Arrington’s campaign.

The postponement came after search warrants for Campisi’s safety deposit boxes were mistakenly unsealed by prosecutors. According to the document, agents for Homeland Security and the criminal division of the IRS searched the safety deposit boxes in February belonging to Campisi, who is the great-grandson of the restaurant’s founder. The search warrant alleged Campisi had ties to internet bookmaking websites in Costa Rica.

Campisi has not been charged or arrested.

The fundraiser was advertised as “a dinner honoring Jodey Arrington” hosted by Campisi and his wife, Niki Campisi, according to a flyer for the event. The flyer offered tickets ranging from $500 for a guest to $5,600 for a couple.
