VIDEO:Woman assaulted for coughing next to suspect at north Houston gas station, police say

Houston police are searching for a man and a woman they said violently assaulted another woman for coughing near them while sitting at a slot machine in a north Houston gas station.

The incident occurred on Sunday, Sept. 8 around 5:20 p.m. when a woman walked into the Valero gas station at the 5700 block of Lockwood Drive and sat at a slot machine next to a man and a woman, according to the Houston Police Department Robbery Division.

When she coughed, the female suspect began yelling at her and to cause a disturbance inside the store. When a store clerk asked the two suspects to leave, the female suspect grabbed the woman sitting at the slot machine by her hair and pulled her to the ground, police said.

The incident was captured by the store’s surveillance system, and in it, the suspect can be seen repeatedly punching and kicking the woman as she laid on the floor. Following the assault, the female suspect can be seen grabbing the woman’s purse, cash and cell phone and walking away.

The suspects fled the scene in a dark blue SUV, police said.

No arrests have been made in the case, a police spokesman said Monday.

Crime Stoppers may pay up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and charging of the suspects in this case. If you have any information, call 713-222-TIPS (8477) or submit tips online at www.crime-stoppers.org.
