Welcome change is coming

weatw

Oppressive heat continues across North Texas this weekend. The excessive heat warning expires at 7 pm on Saturday. But a Heat Advisory will continue through 7 pm on Sunday. That’s a step in the right direction. And more significant changes are coming as the weekend concludes.

Sunday will be the last hot day with high temperatures reaching triple digits across much of the region.

With the hot and breezy weather expected, there’s an elevated risk for grass fires, especially to the west of Dallas-Fort Worth. Please avoid outdoor burning or any other activities that might create a spark.

Welcome relief from the heat in the form of a weak cold front will arrive Sunday evening. Scattered thunderstorms will develop across North Texas late Sunday afternoon and evening. Not everyone will see rain, with perhaps 40% of the area expecting to see storms. Behind the front, daily high temperatures will drop into the mid 90s.
