A young pregnant woman was shot three times Monday evening in southwest Houston.
The woman, 19, and her boyfriend were walking in the 6500 block of Willowbend when someone inside a passing vehicle started shooting at the couple around 7 p.m. As the woman collapsed, her boyfriend pulled his own firearm and returned fire at least once, according to Houston Police Department Lt. Alisa Smith.
The woman, who is at least 12 weeks pregnant, was shot twice in the abdomen and once in the elbow, Smith said. Paramedics rushed her to a nearby hospital, Smith said, where she was listed in stable condition.
The boyfriend who was walking with her is cooperating with police, Smith said.
The search is now on for the shooter. Police did not release any description of the vehicle or person responsible but asked anyone with information to call Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
