A Houston man who was released from jail three months ago after posting bail on a murder charge is now accused of shooting a boy, using an AK-47 in the incident.
Ketrell Beasley, 18, now faces a deadly conduct charge after allegedly shooting the unidentified boy June 5 inside an apartment in the 7400 block of Calhoun Road. The boy’s condition is unknown
Beasley was previously charged with murder, evading arrest in a vehicle and unlawful carrying of a weapon in connection with a deadly shooting in the Third Ward in February 2017. In that incident, Beasley and an alleged accomplice were accused of fatally shooting Cornelius Jackson, 20, in a shopping center parking lot.

Beasley was arrested and booked into Harris County Jail on those charges in April 2018, records show. His bond was initially set at $150,000. It was lowered to $100,000 and then $50,000, according to court records.
On March 3, he was released after posting bail on $50,000 bond on the murder charge and a $1,000 bond on the weapons charge, records show.
In the most recent incident, the victim, only described as a minor, was sitting in front of his couch last week when a bullet struck his back, according to a Houston police affidavit. The shot came from another apartment, police said.
Houston police responded to the shooting around 2 p.m. and found a bullet inside the victim’s closet that was the same caliber used by an AK-47, police said.

They also spoke with two witnesses who saw Beasley inside their apartment after hearing gunfire. A third witnesses identified Beasley as the shooter, according to the affidavit.
Also, video surveillance footage showed Beasley walking out of an apartment carrying a rifle around the time of the shooting, the affidavit said. In the video, Beasley appeared to be manipulating the weapon. The cameras then captured a muzzle flash coming from the rifle before Beasley went back inside the apartment, the affidavit said.
Police said they found an AK-47 rifle inside a closet in the apartment Beasley was in, after a resident allowed police to search the home. Police disassembled the weapon before giving it to the crime scene unit.
Beasley, who appeared for a probable cause hearing early Thursday morning, is currently back in Harris County Jail without bail. His next court date is scheduled for Aug. 1 in the 351st District Court.
