Army chief offers security cooperation to Iraq

ISLAMABAD: Army Chief Gen Qamar Bajwa on Wednesday offered security cooperation to Iraq.

The army chief was speaking to Iraq’s Acting Defence Secretary Lt Gen (Staff) Pilot Muhammad Salim Al Araji, who called on him at the General Headquarters.

“During the meeting matters of professional interest and regional security were discussed. COAS said that Pakistan values its brotherly relations with Iraq and it would be honoured to provide any assistance in development or security related fields,” the ISPR said.

It should be recalled that the defence secretary had a day earlier renewed Pakistan’s offer to train Iraq’s armed forces and augment bilateral defence cooperation.
