Data shows where the most drunk-driving crashes occurred in Houston-area cities in 2018

According to a 2018 Houston Chronicle investigative series, the Houston metro area is one the most deadly and dangerous in the nation for drivers, passengers and people in their path

The series analyzed 16 years of federal highway data and found the nine-county region tallied more fatal drunken-driving crashes during the last 16 years than any other major metropolitan area in the country.

New data released by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) shows how many drunken driving crashes and fatalities were reported across Houston and Texas-area cities in 2018.

According to the report, 17,158 DUI crashes occurred throughout the state in 2018; 441 fatalities were reported from those crashes. The Houston area saw the most DUI crashes in 2018, with a total of 1,908, up from 1,560 in 2017, according to TxDOT
