Houston doctor arrested in undercover sting targeting sexual predators

A Houston doctor was arrested last month during an undercover sting targeting sexual predators on the internet, the Montgomery County Pct. 1 Constable’s Office announced Monday.

Jay Lin, 40, worked as an assistant professor for radiology at Baylor College of Medicine when he was arrested July 31 on a charge of online solicitation of a minor, a second-degree felony, officials said. Lin has been placed on administrative leave, said Lori Williams, a spokesperson for the college.

Also, The Texas Medical Board on Monday temporarily suspended his medical license after “determining his continuation in the practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare,” according to a statement from the board. The suspension went into effect immediately and will remain in place until the board takes further action.

Lin, of Bellaire, was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail in lieu of a $30,000 bond. It wasn’t immediately clear Monday whether he’s been released.

The Montgomery County Pct. 1 Constable’s Office conducted the investigation with the Montgomery County County Internet Crimes against Children Task Force. The task force is asking anyone with information about about illegal activity involving Lin or other potential victims to call 936-760-6910.
