Houston police search for man suspected of robbing elderly woman at gunpoint

Police are searching for a suspect who was caught on video holding up a 79-year-old woman at gunpoint and stealing her car as the elderly woman was leaving a South Park dry cleaners on Aug. 28.

Police say the suspect is a black male around 20-28, and he was wearing a black hoodie at the time of the robbery.

According to police, the altercation started when the woman refused to allow the suspect to use her phone. The suspect followed her outside as she put her clothes in the backseat. When she opened the driver’s seat door, according to police, the suspect ran towards her and demanded her keys.

In the video footage, the woman can be seen throwing her keys away from the car and shutting the door. According to police, the suspect grabbed the keys and threatened her until she exited the vehicle, allowing the suspect to get into her car and drive away.

The vehicle, which was stolen in the 8000 block of Martin Luther King Blvd., was later located at 7800 Bellfort St. two weeks later.
