Lexus driver arrested on DWI charge after she crashed into Dallas squad car

A woman was arrested on a drunken driving charge early Saturday after she hit a police car, parked with its overhead lights flashing, in Old East Dallas.

Officers were sitting in the squad car about 2:15 a.m. waiting for a tow truck to take another vehicle away when a Lexus sedan struck them from behind, police said.

No one was injured in the crash in the 5800 block of East Grand Avenue, but the police car was damaged.

Melissa Mejia, 24, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and several outstanding warrants, police said.

She remained in the Dallas County Jail on Saturday afternoon, with bail still pending.
