Dallas police obtained an arrest warrant Friday for John Graham Leddy, 69, on one count of attempted indecency with a child.

According to the affidavit, the accuser was a third-grade student at Life School in the 4400 block of South R.L. Thornton Freeway in east Oak Cliff at the time of the incident in 2015. Leddy was the girl’s teacher and math tutor.

The girl, who was 9 or 10 at the time, told a forensic interviewer last month that one day after her tutoring session she was waiting for her mother to pick her up when Leddy pinned her to a desk. He had put his under her shirt and started rubbing her stomach when her phone started to ring, the affidavit says.

The girl ran outside to her mother’s car but told the interviewer she felt like Leddy would’ve raped her if she hadn’t been able to get away, the affidavit says.

The girl’s mother told authorities that she noticed a change in her daughter’s temperament around that time — she didn’t want to go to school and didn’t want people to touch her.

Leddy is serving a 20-year prison sentence after pleading guilty in 2016 to charges of aggravated sexual assault with a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact.

He was arrested in December 2015 after the 7-year-old victim told detectives that he’d sexually assaulted her multiple times the previous spring and would bribe her with candy bars not to tell anyone.

Leddy had retired from the school and was no longer working for the district at the time of his arrest. He previously worked in several other North Texas school districts, including the Arlington, Coppell, Grand Prairie and Plano ISDs.
