Petrina Thompson brought a handgun to Martinez Legal P.C. in the 400 block of South Carroll Boulevard, said Khristen Jones, a spokeswoman for the Denton Police Department. Witnesses said Thompson fired once before fleeing.

Police arrested Thompson less than a mile away and found the gun in her car, Jones said. The weapon was jammed when police discovered it.

Thompson was booked into the Denton City Jail before being transferred Sunday to the county jail. She faces three charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and her bail was set at $150,000.
