A Collin County jury found Jesus Mejia, 31, guilty last week of two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child younger than 6 and two counts of indecency with a child by sexual contact.

He was sentenced to 50 years in prison — without the possibility of parole — on each of the sexual assault charges and 10 years on each of the indecency charges, with the sentences to run concurrently. He also must pay a $30,000 fine, court records show.

According to authorities, the victim told her mother in 2017, when she was 10, about several instances of abuse that took place before she had started kindergarten. Her parents told McKinney police, and the child was interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center.

“This monster will now face the consequences of his despicable actions because this young, innocent victim found the courage to tell,” Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis said in a written statement.
