Authorities said Wednesday evening that they had issued a murder warrant for 18-year-old Christian Treyshun Hill of Dallas.

Plano police were called to a home Saturday night in the 3200 block of Peachtree Lane, where they found Marquel Ellis Jr. had been shot.

Police said several people had been kicked out of a party at the house before someone fired into the home, striking Marquel. He was taken to a hospital, where he died from his wounds.

Another teen was arrested Monday and charged with murder in Marquel’s death. Kemond Smith, 17, was arrested at the Forney Learning Academy, an alternative campus for Forney ISD, according to inForney.com.

Marquel’s mother told KDFW-TV (Channel 4) that he had attended the party with his older sister, where the teens were listening to music and playing video games.

His sister tried to save him after he was shot, Jocelyn Maduagwu told the station.

“She called me on the phone holding him,” she said. “She just said, ‘Mom, I tried everything’ on the phone screaming. ‘I tried everything.’”

Marquel, who played football and basketball at the high school, was beloved by his teammates and got along with everyone, football coach Terry Gambill said.

“His teammates loved him,” the coach said. “He loved his teammates, really just a good athlete, good person.”

Marquel was remembered as a “phenomenal athlete and fierce competitor” in a tweet from the Allen High basketball team.

Police asked anyone with information about Hill’s whereabouts to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 877-33-8477. Crime Stoppers accepts anonymous tips and is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in the case.
