Matthew Shane Gonzalez was arrested on a murder charge Tuesday morning in Irving, DeSoto police said.

Police were called about 8:20 p.m. Monday to a home in the 1200 block of Greenbrook Drive, where they found a woman lying in “a large pool of blood” outside the front door, according to an arrest-warrant affidavit. She had been stabbed in her face and upper body.

The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center and pronounced dead.

Her parents told police that as she lay dying on the home’s front porch, she told her stepfather, “It was Matthew, it was Matthew,” the affidavit says. The stepfather said he’d seen a man who resembled Gonzalez, the woman’s ex-boyfriend, running away from the house.

Police wrote in the affidavit that Gonzalez was upset that the relationship had ended and had threatened the woman with a knife in July.

Gonzalez was being held in the Tri-City Jail on Tuesday afternoon, with bail set at $1 million.
