Watch: Frisco homeowner chases teen burglary suspect into police custody

A Frisco resident was adjusting his Christmas lights on Sunday evening when he spotted a young burglary suspect open his neighbor’s car and chased him into the hands of police.

Colin Nelson said he was in his front yard about 5:30 p.m. when he saw two teens wearing red sweatshirts walking down Amber Valley Drive. Footage captured by his neighbor’s doorbell camera and posted on Facebook shows one of the teens open an unlocked car door and rummage around inside.

“Hey, man, can I help you?” he yells, prompting the teen to flee. “Hey, come back! Come back here!”

Moments later, a Frisco police car drives down the road from the opposite direction with it lights flashing, and Nelson returns to his block to alert his neighbor, Tom Cannon, about the break-in. Then the teen returns, and Nelson gives chase again.

“[I was] just shocked it was happening at 5:30 … in the afternoon on a Sunday with people out,” Cannon told WFAA-TV (Channel 8). “Thankfully, [Nelson] was next door.”

Nelson posted the footage on Facebook for his friends to see a “young Paul Blart chase down some criminals.”

Frisco police confirmed that one suspect was taken into custody. Since the teenager is a juvenile, his name was not released and no further information was available.
