Police are seeking a 21-year-old fugitive in the killing of a Houston-area police officer, the second death of an area officer in three days.
Tavores DeWayne Henderson is wanted on suspicion of murder. According to Houston’s KHOU-TV, authorities believe he is possibly en route to Louisiana in a red Buick with tinted windows – save for the rear window, which is missing.
The incident took place about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday in far southeast Houston, where Nassau Bay police Sgt. Kaila Sullivan had been helping another officer conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that Henderson was driving.
The officers attempted to detain Henderson after finding out that he was wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor charge of assault of a family member.

Henderson, however, resisted arrest and reentered the vehicle, striking Sullivan as he fled the scene, police said.
Sullivan was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. According to the Houston Chronicle, the 43-year-old officer had served nearly 16 years with the department.
Henderson is described as a black man who is 6 feet tall and 130 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair that is curled on top and shaved on the sides. A 2016 mugshot released by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office shows Henderson with a distinctive tattoo on his neck.
A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered for information leading to his arrest. Tips can be reported to Houston police at 713-222-8477 or at crime-stoppers.org
KTRK-TV reported that Henderson’s assault charge stems from a incident Sunday in which he allegedly tried to abduct his children’s mother from a Topgolf parking lot as she attended a work event. Henderson took the woman several blocks away, where he eventually freed her after she told him that police had been called, the news station said, citing court documents.
Sullivan’s death comes just in the wake of the fatal shooting of Houston Police Sgt. Christopher Brewster as he responded to a domestic violence call. Arturo Solis, 25, was arrested in that case and now faces capital murder charges.
