Woman tried to snatch 1-year-old girl at Target in Hurst, police say

Police in Hurst are looking for a woman they say tried to snatch a child at a store.

Officers were called about 3 p.m. Tuesday to the Target in the 1400 block of Precinct Line Road, near State Highway 183, after an attempted abduction was reported.

Police said a couple had been shopping with their 1-year-old daughter, who was in a baby carrier in a shopping cart, when a woman grabbed the cart and walked away.

The couple notified employees about the missing child, and employees found the girl, unharmed, a few minutes later. The woman left the store before police could detain her.

Police described the woman as white, age 55 to 70, with blond hair in a bob. She was wearing a navy blue shirt with white snowflakes, a royal blue jacket, blue jeans and light-colored sneakers. She left the store in a white 2007-14 GMC Yukon Denali.
