Rain possible in Dallas-Fort Worth on Friday before a mild weekend

It won’t rain all day, but you’ll need an umbrella Friday.

A storm system is expected to move through North Texas, bringing a chance for showers Friday night and Saturday morning, KXAS-TV (NBC5) meteorologist Grant Johnston said.

“It’s not going to be a washout,” Johnston said.

Most rain in Dallas-Fort Worth will likely be in the form of light showers or drizzle, with the best chance coming Friday evening into early Saturday, according to Johnston.

Severe weather is not in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.

“Thunderstorm chances [are] low, but a rumble of two of thunder are not out of the question,” said Patricia Sanchez, a weather service meteorologist.

After showers clear out Saturday morning, the rest of the weekend is expected to dry out, with highs in the 50s on Saturday and 60s on Sunday, Johnston said.

With highs in the 60s forecast through the end of next week, Dallas-Fort Worth will be slightly warmer than usual. During this time of the year, the area normally sees highs in the mid-50s, according to the weather service.

Here’s what KXAS-TV (NBC5) has in the forecast:

Friday: 51/39; scattered showers

Saturday: 54/39

Sunday: 60/37

Monday: 64/38
