Robbery suspect arrested after shooting that left employee at Mesquite store critically injured

Authorities have made an arrest after an employee was critically wounded during a robbery at a Mesquite store Monday evening.

Officers were called just after 6 p.m. to a shooting at a business in the 3600 block of Gus Thomasson Road, near Town East Boulevard.

Police found that an employee had been shot during a robbery. The employee, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses told authorities they saw a man running from the store.

On Friday, police said 30-year-old Wesley Gerard Jones of Dallas had been arrested on an aggravated-robbery charge in connection with the incident. He was being held on $500,000 bail.

No updated on the victim’s condition was available.
