Michael Paul Smith, 43, faces a charge of invasive visual recording after Rockwall Independent School District officials notified police. He was booked into the Rockwall County Jail but was released after posting $7,500 bond.

The camera system installed on the bus revealed that Smith was using personal electronic devices to record improper video of students as they entered and exited the vehicle, police said. Police did not provide additional details.

Investigators also searched Smith’s residence. It is unclear what, if any thing, they found or if anything was removed from the home.

Smith’s primary bus route catered to students at Springer Elementary and Utley Middle schools.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rockwall Police Department’s criminal investigation unit at 972-772-6703.
