Man found shot to death on sidewalk outside Red Bird apartment complex

A man was found fatally shot outside a Red Bird apartment complex Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to a shooting at the Hampton Terrace Apartments in the 5000 block of South Hampton Road, near Thurgood Marshall Park, about 8:20 a.m. There they found Dominique White, 28, on the sidewalk and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

White was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Authorities determined that the man lived at or frequented a nearby apartment, and they called in SWAT officers to search the apartment for additional victims or the killer.

The SWAT team entered the apartment around 1 p.m. after no one inside responded. No one was inside, police said.

Police on Wednesday night described the suspect as a black male in his late 20’s and approximately 6’ 3” tall, who reportedly fled the location in a white, older-model 4-door Lexus.

Officers had marked off part of the parking lot with police tape, and a pair of sneakers could be seen lying on a sidewalk.

Police have not determined a motive for the shooting, which is the city’s ninth homicide of the year.

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to contact Dallas Police Det. Olegario Garcia with the Dallas Police Department’s homicide unit at (214) 671-3994 or at olegario.garcia@dallascityhall.com
