Suspect in slaying of Arlington man arrested in Los Angeles

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of an Arlington man earlier this month.

Antonio Garcia was arrested Friday by U.S. marshals in Los Angeles and faces a murder charge, said Arlington police Lt. Christopher Cook, a department spokesman.

An Arlington Police Department officer parked outside of Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington on Saturday, January 12, 2019.

Detectives are working with the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Task Force to have Garcia extradited, Cook said.

Garcia is charged in connection with the death of Cedric Dawkins, 29, who was found Jan. 1 with multiple gunshot wounds in his apartment in the 2300 block of Streambed Court, north of Interstate 30 and just east of State Highway 360 on the city’s north side.

Dawkins died at an area hospital.
