Witness thwarted carjacking attempt in Fort Worth by pulling gun on suspects, police say

A witness pulled a gun on two men threatening a woman Tuesday and thwarted a carjacking attempt, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

The incident happened Tuesday at Hulen Mall in Fort Worth when a 68-year-old woman returned to her car in the parking lot and was pulled out of her vehicle by two men, the newspaper reported.

One man hit the woman in the face when the Denton resident tried to fight back, according to the newspaper.

The men dropped her purse and fled after the witness pulled out a gun, KXAS-TV (NBC5) reported.

The men, who were captured on surveillance video, were described as about 5-feet-11 and 5-8 and of slim build, police said. The taller one wore a black hoodie with black pants and shoes. The other suspect wore gray sweatpants. Both were between the ages of 20 to 25.

Their attempt to steal the woman’s car failed because she had an electronic key in her pocket, Fort Worth police spokesman Buddy Calzada told the station.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene, NBC5 reported.
