Man charged in fatal shooting of Tyler gas station clerk gets 35 years

A man charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a gas station clerk in Tyler has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.

LaMarcus Jhermaine Hannah, 35, was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to murder, the Tyler Morning Telegraph reported. Hannah had originally been charged with capital murder.

Hannah, along with Kedarius Oliver and Dameon Mosley, were all charged in the Jan. 28 death of 62-year-old Billy Stacks, a clerk at a Conoco station in the 300 block of NNE Loop 323.

Smith County District Attorney Jacob Putman said the three men drove to Tyler to commit the robbery after getting off work in Palestine, the newspaper reported.

Stacks was shot several times during the early-morning encounter.
