Dallas officer arrested on charge of injury to a child

A Dallas police officer faces a charge of injury to a child in Ellis County.

Sr. Cpl. Latoya Carrington, 44, turned herself in to Red Oak police Monday in connection with a Jan. 15 incident, authorities said.

No further details about the allegations against Carrington have been released. Public records indicate that she lives in Red Oak.

Dallas police said that Carrington has been with the Dallas Police Department since 2001 and is assigned to the youth operations unit. She was placed on administrative leave until an internal investigation is completed.

It is unclear whether Carrington has an attorney.
