Inter-provincial transport suspended by AJK for three days

MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has announced complete suspension of inter-provincial transport for three days from midnight Friday under ‘health emergency’ imposed to prevent the threat of coronavirus.

According to a notification issued by the home department, no public transport vehicle would be allowed to leave from or enter anywhere in the territory.

Violators would be punished under Epidemic Diseases Act, 1958, it warned.

Muzaffarabad deputy commissioner Badar Munir said the ban would also apply to local public transport.

Meanwhile, four more samples of suspected patients were sent to National Institute of Health on Thursday, according to health minister Dr Najeeb Naqi Khan.

In all, 40 samples had been sent to NIH from AJK, of which 23 reports had been receiving with one positive case.

“By tomorrow, we will receive the remaining 17 results,” he said.
