Subcontractor working on Rangers’ Globe Life Field tests positive for coronavirus

A worker on the crew finishing off punch list items at Globe Life Field tested positive for coronavirus this week, the construction company overseeing the project confirmed Saturday.

Manhattan Construction said in a statement that it received word of a positive test Wednesday on a worker at the stadium. The area where the individual worked was immediately cleared of workers, cleaned and sanitized.

The company also instituted new guidelines for workers as of Thursday but does not appear to have stopped construction on the $1.2 billion stadium.

Among the new guidelines:

There is a now single point of entry, and all workers will have their temperature monitored.

Any personnel presenting a temperature greater than the current CDC guidelines will be asked to leave the site immediately.

The entire site will also be cleaned throughout the day. Work days are now limited from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All employees are required to have a color-coded wrist band (color-coded for each day) in plain sight to ensure they entered through the single entry point and that their temperature was taken.

While Arlington is under shelter-in-place order, “essential businesses” are permitted to continue to operate. Among the categories of essential is “critical infrastructure.”

The project remains under Manhattan’s control until completion. The Rangers did not have any comment. However, general manager Jon Daniels said earlier this week that no Rangers personnel have exhibited symptoms or tested positive for the virus. Daniels said the front office has been working remotely.
