Allen High School has planned an in-person graduation for the Class of 2020, announcing Wednesday that seniors can celebrate alongside five family members at a personal ceremony in Eagle Stadium on May 22.
The individual ceremonies will be held simultaneously across four stages. To comply with state guidelines, a distance of at least 25 feet between each senior and five family members will be maintained, according to a release from Allen ISD.
Beginning at 9 a.m., students and family will arrive at the stadium in scheduled time slots, and students will have a short video and photograph taken onstage to be compiled into a searchable video of the entire class.
Students will then exit to the concourse to receive their official diploma and other recognitions. Graduation portraits will be available for all seniors, as in previous years.
The 15-minute ceremonies will end when all of the approximately 1,650 students have crossed one of the four stages.
“I think we have a good plan to honor our students under these unique circumstances and still comply with the state guidelines,” Johnston added.
In lieu of graduation practice, seniors will receive a short video and detailed information about scheduling and parking information.
