Warm and breezy today, then storms tonight

Mild weather will continue today with sunshine and a gusty south wind. South winds will increase to 20-30 mph this afternoon to help warm things up and increase Gulf moisture. Temperatures will warm into the low to mid 80s.

Our next cold front arrives late tonight into Friday morning, bringing a chance for severe weather to parts of North Texas. Strong winds would be the main threat, but hail will also be possible. The highest threat for strong to severe storms will be well north and northwest of the DFW area during the late afternoon and evening hours. Additional thunderstorms will accompany a cold front as it moves through North Texas late tonight into Friday morning. The bulk of the activity will be along the Red River. All activity should be gone by late morning. The rest of Friday will be dry.

Mother’s Day weekend will be rain-free and pleasant with sunshine and highs in the 70s.
