Retail shops allowed to operate throughout week in KP

PESHAWAR: Adviser to the chief minister on information and public relations, Ajmal Khan Wazir has said following the orders of the Supreme Court, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to keep all the retail shops across the province open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (May 22 to 24).

He said home delivery and takeaway services would also be allowed to continue after 5pm.

He expressed these views while briefing mediapersons here on Wednesday, according to a statement.

Mr Wazir, however, requested the people to ensure social distancing and observe other precautionary measures during the Eid days to avoid spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

“Avoid excessive socialising on the occasion of Eid and stay at home. Spend the occasion at home this time to save your life and the lives of your loved ones,” he said.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan had eased the lockdown as the poor people were suffering.

‘’In case of non-implementation of SOPs, we will use the option of lockdown again as it is our responsibility to protect the lives of people,’’ he warned.
