PCB plans to curb players’ social media activities

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is aware of the players’ frequent appearance and interaction on the social media and is pondering over including relevant clauses in the upcoming contracts for players at every level.

Recently, it has come to the fore that many Pakistan cricketers have been participating in social media ventures and are inter-acting with strangers and earning money too in certain ways.

A well-placed source in the PCB has informed this correspondent that the Board is aware of all this and has also briefed the players.

“Prior to the England tour the players were briefed of the potential threat while interacting with strangers on social media,” the source said. “People approach players for sponsorship deals for which we have advised cricketers to refer such offers to their managers,” the source added. As per the information available to this correspondent, a number of players got in touch with the PCB domestic department as well to seek their permission in this regard.
