Heating up ahead of the next cold front

After a break from the heat the past few days, more typical July heat returns today with breezy southwest winds of 10-20 mph. Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 90s. Make sure to hydrate. The heat coupled with high humidity will make it feel like 100 to 105 during the afternoon hours.

The heat won’t last thanks to a rare mid-summer cold front arriving Friday. This front may bring some showers and gusty thunderstorms to parts of North Texas late tonight and Friday. The highest rain chance will be across North Texas tonight. Expect a drop in temperatures on Friday with highs in the low 90s. Showers will remain possible into Friday evening before all of the rain moves into Central Texas.

The weekend will be dry and less humid with highs in the low 90s. Below normal temperatures will extend into most of next week.
